Reshaping the Identity of HR in 2023
In 2021, HR was doing everything in their power to hire as quickly as possible. Getting a candidate’s foot in the door was difficult, given the obstacles of background check turnaround times still being affected by the pandemic. But as time has worn on, hiring is now taking a backseat, according to HRDive’s survey about HR’s identity in the workplace. What can we expect for the rest of 2023? Read on to learn more about the shifts in the industry and how your team can not only adapt but embrace those changes.
The pressure to hire is still high.
In 2022, 36% of survey respondents provided that hiring was the highest priority today. While that declined 12% into the current year, it still proves to be one of the most important topics for HR individuals. The difference is purely in what type of hiring may be necessary before. The years following the pandemic were filled with finding people to fit positions and trying to do it quickly to beat out the competition. Nowadays, HR has an even more pressing task: taking their time to find the very best individuals to match the skills of the position. The good news is that there are hundreds of integrative technologies to assist you in weeding out the applicants who align best with your needs before they even reach your team’s eyes. And the even better news is that we integrate with many of them, so we can help you hire faster and with assured accuracy!
A tighter budget for today.
Despite the need to hire still being relatively higher, HR’s latest obstacle is one that many departments are experiencing: the necessity to adhere to a stricter budget. With inflation on the rise and a possible recession on the horizon, employers are pinching pennies now more than ever. But while the budget may be limited, the tasks under their role are anything but; where does that leave HR? The best method to adapt to this change may involve utilizing a technology to assist in streamlining your hiring processes from beginning to end. Not only will it help HR, but it may eliminate the need for an additional body. We know how important cost-saving initiatives are to every company, which is why Atlantic doesn’t have any annual fees or hidden fees. We keep our prices as low as possible, all while providing the utmost accuracy, quick turnaround times and customer service you deserve.
Company culture is crucial.
Whether you’re a candidate, employee, or even management, all individuals agree that company culture is incredibly important. Nearly one-fourth of individuals surveyed put it at the top of their priority list, and for good reason. When job seekers are looking for their next position, salary and benefits are definitely factored in; but so is the culture of the employer that they’re looking to apply for. After all, most employees spend at least forty hours in the workplace. For most, it is imperative to find somewhere that aligns with their morals and their way of life. HR can review their own culture, but sometimes it’s better to get it from the source (AKA, your employees).
Tune in to technology.
In a post-pandemic world, we all realized just how much we can rely on technology. As we’ve returned to normalcy, that may be the one thing that hasn’t changed: according to JobScan, most employers utilize an applicant tracking system. And we can understand why. ATS technologies are built to assist with resume parsing, multi-channel candidate sourcing, and a plethora of integrations to other services (like our screening services, which you can read about here!). The most important thing for HR is to take time to find an ATS (or HRIS, or HCM) that best aligns with what your team is looking for in a technology. With so many offered at such different price points, there’s a good chance that you’ll be able to find exactly what you need at a cost that works for your company.
With the identity of HR transforming time and time again, we know it’s difficult to stay up to date with the latest trends. Atlantic is committed to not only helping you adapt, but also changing with you!
